The process starts when you complete the online application. This can be done on any internet-connected device, including a smart phone. Click here to start your application, or use the gold button above!
02. Student Interview at HFCR
All prospective students meet with our Admissions Team and Corporate Work Study Department to discuss their goals and learn more about our programs. Required documents, such as report cards, standardized test scores, and immunization records, must be submitted at this stage. Each family will receive an email with a list of required documents that need to be submitted at this stage.
03. Placement Test (if applicable)
For students who do not provide standardized test scores, a short placement test is required to ensure appropriate academic placement. (This is also the final opportunity for you to submit any outstanding required documents.)
04. Receive Admissions Decision & Parent Meeting and Official Enrollment
You will be notified of the decision by Admissions staff and provided a list of next steps for enrollment. Parents and guardians attend a mandatory meeting with the Principal to review school expectations and complete enrollment forms to finalize the admissions process!

Information for Prospective Families
The Cristo Rey model allows us to offer a rigorous private school education to students who could otherwise not afford one. Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School only serves scholars whose family income qualifies them for scholarships to the school.
All families are required to complete the Financial Aid Information form. The data collected in this form helps the Student Recruitment Office set the tuition paid per student.
Tuition is based on a sliding scale, with 10 monthly payments in amounts available from $50/month to $250/month. The family annual contribution to the scholar's tuition will vary from $500 to $2,500, depending upon the information given on the Financial Aid Information Form.
Tuition & Fees Breakdown
- Tuition Contribution (sliding scale based on income and family size): between $300 and $2,500 per year
- Yearly Student Activity Fee: $250
Quick Facts
- The total cost of tuition for one student is $11,675/year.
- Expected family contributions are based on a sliding scale, which takes into account income and family size.
- The remainder of tuition costs is fulfilled through participation in the Corporate Work Study Program, scholarships through the Alabama Accountability Act, and philanthropic donations to the operating of the school.
- No family is ever turned away from Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School due to an inability to pay tuition costs.
Alabama Accountability Act and Scholarship Granting Organizations
The Alabama Accountability Act authorizes donation-funded scholarships for low income students to attend qualified independent schools such as Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School. These scholarships are granted by specially created Scholarship Granting Organizations (or SGOs) for the sole purpose of taking private donations and awarding them to low income students in schools that have qualified to receive funds directly from the SGOs.
Holy Family Cristo Rey partners with Scholarships for Kids (a Birmingham-based SGO) and C2 Opportunity Scholarships (an SGO specifically supporting Catholic Education). Our Student Recruitment team works with all incoming families to help identify eligible students and start the application process.
Scholarships for Kids does not accept applications directly from parents/guardians. After completing an application, please bring the application to the participating school to complete tuition and certification information. Each participating school has a username and password to access our application portal and will complete the submission for you.
Scholarships for Kids will notify the school directly of your application status.
All families must meet the Scholarship Income Guidelines to be eligible to receive a C2 scholarship. Consult the Scholarship Income Guidelines chart for eligibility information. Awards are distributed on a first come, first served basis and in compliance with the Alabama Accountability Act (AAA).
C2 was created to empower low-income parents to choose what is best for their child. Application Helpline: 205-506-3252
CHOOSE Act and Educational Savings Accounts
